Regular Committee/Board Meeting of the

Board of Commissioners


September 9, 2015



President Pratl called the meeting to order at 8:00pm.



The following commissioners were present:  Commissioners Crout, Conrad, Egan, and Pratl.   Commissioner Lind was absent with notice.  Also present: Director King, Recreation Superintendent Malito and Maintenance Superintendent Biskey.



Everyone participated in the Pledge of Allegiance. 



There was no one to address the Board.



Chair Report

Commissioner Crout asked Recreation Superintendent Malito to give his report.


Recreation Superintendent’s Report

The Grappling Event went well; there were two senior’s group trips scheduled for the 9th & 10th; Tiny Tots began classes with 22 children; there is another Fitness Triple Attack challenge for the fitness center members scheduled for September 19th – September 26th. 


A new “Sunrise Yoga” class will begin on Tuesday mornings from 6:00am-6:45am at Frontier.


A trip is scheduled on September 12th to the United Center to see the Marvel Universe show.


The RAH program is going strong.  They will be utilizing Frontier on Mondays and Fridays and will also be utilizing the inflatables.


The Board was given a permit request that was turned in to host a Firefighter and Police thank you gathering at the Freedom Park Pavilion on September 19th.  After some discussion, The Board suggested double checking with the requestor as to the number of people/amenities expected.


Commissioner Conrad reported on his meeting with a representative of the Police Department stating that the Police Department said they were short-staffed, but agreed to patrol the parks a little more often.



Chair Report

Commissioner Egan gave the floor to Maintenance Superintendent Biskey for his report.


Superintendent’s Report


Maintenance Superintendent Biskey reported on the setup/cleanup of the Grappling event. 


There were no issues to report at Lily Pad or Ball Fore as the season winds down.  The water meter at the Lily Pad will be sent out for testing.


New sod has been laid at Freedom Park; woodchips have been added at Freedom Park playground.


The swampy area at Menard has been addressed and the area is now draining properly.


Superintendent Biskey reported that he has met with one electrician and will meet with a couple more regarding getting power at the meditation area at Lombard.


The water fountain at Freedom is operational, but a replacement fountain will be forthcoming from the Village for the one that was broken during the Ridge Fest at Freedom Park.


Recreation Superintendent Malito and Maintenance Superintendent Biskey then exited the meeting.


Director’s Report

The Board was given a copy of the letters prepared by the Attorney regarding the recent FOIA request and the recent bus issue.  The FOIA request was dropped; but there has been no response from Larry’s Brake Service.


In regard to Lily Pad, the Board was given a comparison of water usage from the last 3 years.  Director King informed the Board that the meter will be tested.


Director King reported on the upcoming BINA Hearing, notice of which will be published on September 11th.  More information will be given at the next meeting.


The Board was informed that quotes for new phone service will be presented at the next meeting.


Director King had a few comments regarding the grappling event.  This was a good rental and he is looking forward to booking more events with them, possibly November 21st.


Director King reported on the plans for Guardian Park.  New renderings from NuToys were presented.  Discussion ensued.





Chair Report

Commissioner Lind was not at the meeting.  No report was given.  The Board was given Financial Statements for their review.

Commissioner Conrad had nothing new to report at this time.

There was no need to enter Executive Session.



President Pratl called for a motion to adjourn at 8:49pm.  Motion was made by Commissioner Crout and seconded by Commissioner Conrad.  All in favor, aye.  Motion carried.
