Regular Committee/Board Meeting of the

Board of Commissioners

CHICAGO RIDGE PARK DISTRICT

May 14, 2014

 

CALL TO ORDER

President Pratl called the meeting to order at 8:01pm.

 

ROLL CALL

The following commissioners were present:  Commissioners Crout, Lind absent with notice, Egan, Conrad and Pratl.   Also present: Director King, Recreation Superintendent Malito and Maintenance Supervisor Biskey.

 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Everyone participated in the Pledge of Allegiance. 

 

PUBLIC/STAFF WISHING TO ADDRESS THE BOARD

There was no one to address the Board.

 

RECREATION COMMITTEE

Chair Report

Commissioner Crout asked about the Tiny Tot Prom.  Recreation Superintendent Malito reported that it went well.  He then reported on the new inflatables that were purchased.

 

Superintendent’s Report

Recreation Superintendent Malito presented updates to the party rental rates for Frontier Fieldhouse.  Director King also suggested a rental rate for the new inflatables; Recreation superintendent Malito will work on this and have a recommendation at the next meeting.

 

Mother/Son Bowl was a great event with 53 participants.  Senior Luncheon was held on Tuesday, May 13th.  Participants were given grocery tote bags. Other events coming up include: the Volo Car Museum trip scheduled for Saturday, May 17th, and the ADCC grappling event scheduled for June 21st.  

 

MAINTENANCE COMMITTEE

Chair Report

Commissioner Conrad commented that the inflatables were great and gave the floor to Maintenance Supervisor Biskey for his report.

 

Supervisor’s Report

Maintenance Supervisor Biskey reported on the newly landscaped area next to the Lily Pad. 

 

In regard to Ball Fore, the weeds are still a problem.  He is working with Kamphuis Landscaping regarding this.  There is also an issue with the electric which will be addressed by Mohawk Electric. 

 

Tyco Integrated Security completed upgrades to the security system at Freedom and Lily Pad.  They will work at the maintenance garage next.

 

All of the air-conditioning units were serviced and new filters installed.

 

All parks were ready for C.R.A.A.’s opening day for baseball and the new water fountain for Freedom Park was installed.

 

Maintenance staff has been doing some “house cleaning” in the garage.

 

Commissioner Conrad opened discussion regarding the new Commissioners Park sign.  The Board was given a copy of the proof to approve.  The Board approved the Commissioners Park sign without the rededication wording.

 

Maintenance Supervisor Biskey & Recreation Superintendent Malito exited the meeting.

 

FINANCE COMMITTEE

Chair Report

Commissioner Lind was not at the meeting.  No report was given. 

 

SPECIAL PROJECTS

Chair Report

Commissioner Egan opened discussion regarding the side of the Freedom Activity Center building.  The Board was given a quote for the power washing, tuck pointing and painting.  Maintenance Supervisor Biskey will be getting additional quotes for comparison.

 

Director King informed the Board that the windscreen was shipped.  He also informed the Board that the Village’s 100th anniversary banner has been received and put up at Freedom.

 

Commissioner Pratl informed the Board that the Village requested tents for the Farmer’s Market.  He told them they would be available; however, the Public Works Department would be responsible for pick up, set up, take down and bringing them back to the Park District.  Director King expressed concerns regarding the time of day the tents would be used as well as the foundation on which they will be set up.  Commissioner Pratl stated that he will be in contact with the Village to get these details straightened out.

 

Commissioner Pratl asked the Board if he could showcase the new inflatables for the Village’s 100th anniversary celebration.  The Board agreed.

 

The Board discussed more landscaping ideas for Freedom Park and Lombard Park.

 

OLD BUSINESS

There was no old business to discuss.

 

NEW BUSINESS

There was no new business to discuss.

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION

There was no need to enter into Executive Session.

 

ADJOURN. 

President Pratl called for a motion to adjourn at 8:48pm.  Motion was made by Commissioner Crout and seconded by Commissioner Egan.  All in favor, aye.  Motion carried.
