Board of Commissioners

CHICAGO RIDGE PARK DISTRICT

April 9, 2014

 

CALL TO ORDER

President Pratl called the meeting to order at 8:03pm.

 

ROLL CALL

The following commissioners were present:  Commissioners Crout, Lind, Egan absent with notice, Conrad and Pratl.   Also present: Director King

 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Everyone participated in the Pledge of Allegiance. 

 

PUBLIC/STAFF WISHING TO ADDRESS THE BOARD

There was no one to address the Board.

 

RECREATION COMMITTEE

Chair Report

Commissioner Crout asked if there were any questions regarding Recreation Superintendent Malito’s report, no one had any.  Commissioner Pratl commented that the Easter Egg Hunt was outstanding and was enjoyed by all who came.  Commissioner Conrad reported that he has been working with Recreation Superintendent Malito on getting some new inflatables which could be added to the event next year.

 

Director King reported that the Breakfast with the Bunny will be this Saturday with baseball coming in after that.  Also next Saturday, Frontier will have the volleyball for charity event.

 

Superintendent’s Report

Recreation Superintendent was not at the meeting.  A written report was given to the Commissioners for their review. 

 

MAINTENANCE COMMITTEE

Chair Report

Commissioner Conrad commented that the new bus shelter has been installed.  They are planning to put in some lights and bumpers.

 

The maintenance staff has also been able to begin working on the fields and commented that Maintenance Supervisor Biskey is doing a good job with that. Director King commented that Richard’s already played on the field.

 

The maintenance staff has also been getting Ball Fore ready for the season.  The netting for the batting cages should be up by next weekend.

 

Supervisor’s Report

Maintenance Supervisor Biskey was not at the meeting.  A written report was given to the Commissioners for their review.

 

FINANCE COMMITTEE

Chair Report

As there were no questions regarding the 2014-2015 preliminary budget, President Pratl called for a motion to adopt the 2014-2015 preliminary budget.  Motion was made by Commissioner Crout and seconded by Commissioner Lind.

Roll Call

Ayes:              Commissioner Crout, Lind, Conrad, Pratl

Nays:              None

Abstain:         None

Motion Carried.

 

SPECIAL PROJECTS

Chair Report

Commissioner Egan was not at the meeting.  No report was given.  Commissioner Pratl stated that after the work on Freedom Park is finished, he would like to begin work on the side of the Freedom Activity Center building, cleaning, painting our logo on it and possibly getting area businesses to place ads on it.

 

Director King stated that a couple of new water fountains are needed at Freedom Park and possibly at Frontier.

 

Director King also brought up redoing the parking lots as they have been damaged from the winter.

 

OLD BUSINESS

There was no old business to discuss.

 

NEW BUSINESS

There was no new business to discuss.

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION

President Pratl called for a motion to enter into Executive Session at 8:21pm for the discussion of the employment of specific employee(s) and discussion of imminent/pending litigation.

Motion was made by Commissioner Crout and seconded by Commissioner Conrad.

All in favor, aye.   Motion carried.

 

OPEN SESSION

President Pratl called session to order at 8:25pm. 

The following Commissioners were present:  Commissioner Crout, Lind, Conrad, Pratl

Also present:  Director King

 

Action Taken on Executive Session Items:

President Pratl called for a motion to accept the settlement of PTAB Docket #08-26425 based on the Attorney’s recommendation.  Motion was made by Commissioner Crout and seconded by Commissioner Conrad. 

Roll Call:

Ayes:              Commissioner Crout, Lind, Conrad, Pratl

Nays:              None

Abstain:         None

Motion Carried.

 

President Pratl reported to the Board that the Centennial Dance for the 100th Anniversary celebration of the Village of Chicago Ridge will be this Saturday.  There have not been any committee meetings of late.  Budget information will be available after the fundraiser.  Also, the Village will be planting a tree on April 25th in Freedom Park. 

 

President Pratl also informed the Board that he is waiting until after the Centennial Dance to present the Village Clerk with the revised fest permit and addendum.

 

ADJOURN. 

President Pratl called for a motion to adjourn at 8:28pm.  Motion was made by Commissioner Crout and seconded by Commissioner Lind.  All in favor, aye.  Motion carried.
