LEGAL NOTICE

INVITATION TO BID

PLAY AND PARK AREA IMPROVEMENTS

FOR THE CHICAGO RIDGE PARK DISTRICT

AT FREEDOM PARK

 

Sealed bids are invited for park and play area improvements for the Chicago Ridge Park District at Freedom Park.

 

Proposals will be received by the Chicago Ridge District at the place, date and time stated below.  The bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.

Date:  Tuesday, January 25, 2011

 

Time:  11:00 a.m.

 

Instructions, specifications and other contract documents will be available at the address listed above, for a non-refundable fee of $ 25.00.

 

Bidders are cautioned to inspect all specifications, complete files of which are available at the above listed address.  Bidders are especially urged to investigate the sites, prior to bidding, and conditions thereon, to inform themselves of the nature and extent of work necessary to produce the desired services.

 

If the contractor finds any conditions at the site that would have any impact on this bid, it is the responsibility of the contractor to notify the Chicago Ridge Park District prior to the bid opening.

 

Proposals shall be made as lump sum bids, as requested in the enclosed bid form for the providing of park improvements.  No proposal will be considered which does not cover all work necessary to provide the completed project.

 

The Chicago Ridge Park District hereafter called the Owner, reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive minor informalities in any bid, or to make award in the best interest of the Owner.

 

Should a bidder find any discrepancies in, or omissions from any of the documents, or be in doubt as to the meaning, he shall advise the Owner in writing, who will issue necessary clarifications to any prospective bidders, by means of an addenda or revision to performance specifications, if received within five ( 5 ) days of the date in which the bids will be received.

 

A certified check or bank draft, payable to the Chicago Ridge Park District, or a satisfactory bid bond executed by the bidder and acceptable sureties in the amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the bid shall be submitted with each bid, and will be returned to all unsuccessful bidders following the awarding of the contract.

 

The contractor shall furnish a Performance Bond, with approved surety in the amount of 100 % of the contract price, as security for the faithful performance labor on the project under this contract.  Cost of the performance bond shall be included in the bid price.

 

Any bidder may withdraw his bid any time prior to the scheduled bid opening.

Any proposal received after the time and date stated herein will be returned to the bidder unopened.

 

Bids shall be submitted subject to all requirements of the instructions, specifications, drawings, and any or all addenda issued thereto.  Bids shall be without interlineation or erasures.  No oral, telephonic, or telegraphic bid or revision to a bid, will be considered.

 

Enclose bid documents in two (2) sealed envelopes (outer & inner)

each clearly labeled and bearing the name of the bidder to guard against improper opening.  Bids are to be marked:  " Playground Bid – Freedom Park " and submitted to:

Installation should occur as soon as possible with agreement of bidder and Owner.  All work shall be completed no later than 60 days after award of the project, unless agreed upon by Owner and Contractor.

 

Contractors will be required to comply with all laws, including those relating to the employment of labor and the payment of the general prevailing rate of hourly wages in the locality in which the work is to be performed for each craft or type of worker or mechanic needed to execute the contract or perform such work, also the general prevailing rate for legal holiday and overtime work, as ascertained by the Park District or by the Illinois Department of Labor for Cook County, Illinois, shall be paid for each craft or type of worker needed to execute the contract or to perform such work.

 

Any exceptions or deviation from the specifications or alternate bids must be addressed in writing and submitted with the Bid.  No bid shall be withdrawn for 60 days after opening of bids without consent of Owner.
