FINANCE COMMITTEE

Chair Report

Commissioner Lind had nothing to report.  Commissioner Pratl opened discussion of the park district comparison chart that the Board received.  Commissioner Conard commented that although there is room to increase rates and still be the lowest around on many of our programs, he would like to maintain the low rates for the residents and suggested to raise the non-resident rates.  The Board agreed to raise the non-resident rate for Day Camp to $325 for the 1st session, $325 for the 2nd session and $550 for all 10 weeks.  They raised the Play Camp non-resident rate to $95 for the 5 & 6 year old class and $85 for the 3 & 4 year old class.  They also raised the ball field rental for non-residents to $100 per game and $300 per day.

SPECIAL PROJECTS

Chair Report

Commissioner Lind asked Director King if he had received any phone calls on the softball league that was advertised.  Director King said that he had not.  Commissioner Lind commented that he had discussed with Director King the possibility of having a couple of tournaments to generate interest.  Commissioner Pratl suggested advertising at Ball Fore once it is open.

Commissioner Conrad opened discussion regarding the souvenir cups that was suggested at a previous meeting.  After some discussion, the Board agreed it was not in their best interest to offer them.

Commissioner Lind opened discussion regarding the fireworks for the Salute to Ridge Kids event.  Commissioner Pratl commented that although he would have liked to have fireworks, there is not enough room at Freedom Park.  There was some discussion of having the fireworks at a different location, however, it was decided that it would be impractical.  Ideas were discussed to lower the cost of hosting this event while still making it free to the residents.   Commissioner Pratl suggested that everyone bring their ideas to the April Committee Meeting.
