Regular Committee/Board Meeting of the

Board of Commissioners

CHICAGO RIDGE PARK DISTRICT

February 10, 2010

 

CALL TO ORDER

President Pratl called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

 

ROLL CALL

The following commissioners were present:  Commissioners, Crout, Conrad, Pratl.

 Commissioner Lind was absent with notice.  Also present was Director King.

 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Everyone participated in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

PUBLIC/STAFF WISHING TO ADDRESS THE BOARD

There was no one to address the Board.

 

RECREATION COMMITTEE

Chair Report

Commissioner Crout commented that the Daddy/Daughter event is set.  Director King further commented that the staff is set as well as the give aways.  There will be two registration stations set up as well as two food tables and two photographers.  There are also certificates for spring and summer classes, and fitness memberships that will be raffled off.

 

Discussion ensued regarding the hiring of a Recreation Supervisor.  It was suggested to possibly have separate managers for Ball Fore and Lily Pad as seasonal positions.  Director King commented that the programs and events have been busy and that the Recreation Supervisor should be able to oversee all of these classes and events.  More discussion followed.

 

MAINTENANCE COMMITTEE

Chair Report

Commissioner Conrad reported that the staff is working in doors, plowing and getting ready for the special events coming up.  He also stated that he would like to see the ceiling tiles replaced in the gym at Freedom Center.  

 

Director King commented that there have been a lot of rentals.

 

Commissioner Conrad commented that signs are needed at Lily Pad.  He also stated that he is getting quotes for the picnic tables. 

 

FINANCE COMMITTEE

Chair Report

Commissioner Lind was not at the meeting.  Commissioner Pratl asked Director King about the taxes on the Oxford building.    Director King said he contacted Attorney Matt Byrne regarding this who is in the process of submitting the tax-exempt application.

 

SPECIAL PROJECTS

Chair Report

Commissioner Pratl asked about the opening of Ball Fore.  Director King said they would be open during spring break weather permitting.  Discussion followed regarding hours of operation.

 

Commissioner Conrad reported that he has been contacted by the Illinois Association for the Deaf who are looking for a place to meet for a barbeque.  He is waiting for the number of participants but he commented that he would like the park district to allow them to use some of the Park District’s equipment.  The Board agreed.

 

Commissioner Pratl opened discussion regarding a family value pack or punch card for Ball Fore. 

 

In regard to the Illinois Open at Ball Fore, Director King commented that Bob Detweiller of the PMGA said that we would have it, although we have nothing in writing as of yet.

 

Commissioner Conrad brought up the possibility of selling souvenir cups.  Discussion ensued.

 

OLD BUSINESS

The Board was given a copy of the permit request for the music in the park event proposed by the Village.  The Board agreed that they need more information from the Village as well as counsel from the Attorney.  President Pratl commented that he would contact Attorney Stillman.

 

NEW BUSINESS

There was no new business to discuss.

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION

There was no need to enter into Executive Session.

 

ADJOURN

A motion to adjourn was made by Commissioner Crout and seconded by Commissioner Conrad at 8:42pm.  All in favor, aye.  Motion carried.
