Board of Commissioners

CHICAGO RIDGE PARK DISTRICT

September 13, 2017

 

CALL TO ORDER

President Pratl called the meeting to order at 8:00pm.

 

ROLL CALL

The following commissioners were present:  Commissioners Crout, Conrad, Egan, Albon, Pratl

Also present: Attorney Stillman, Recreation Superintendent Malito and Maintenance Superintendent Biskey.

 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Everyone participated in the Pledge of Allegiance. 

 

PUBLIC/STAFF WISHING TO ADDRESS THE BOARD

There was no one to address the Board.

 

RECREATION COMMITTEE

Chair Report

Commissioner Albon gave the floor to Recreation Superintendent Malito for his report.

 

Superintendent’s Report

Superintendent Malito reported that he purchased a portable scoreboard for Frontier until the new permanent scoreboards could be installed.

 

An e-mail was send to coaches and athletic directors regarding the Thanksgiving Boys Basketball Tournament which will be November 18th - 21st.

 

The RAH children will be going to Frontier Fieldhouse on Mondays and Fridays throughout the school year.  The NRPA Commit to Health program has also begun with the first healthy foods introduced being whole grains and the tomato.

 

The Board was given a print out of area park districts in regard to their pavilion rental rates.  Commissioner Pratl commented that, due to the previous large rental requests, the Park District may need to require in writing that renters will be responsible for port-o-johns.  Discussion ensued regarding maximum number of people per rental, deposit amount, etc.

 

MAINTENANCE COMMITTEE

Chair Report

Commissioner Egan gave the floor to Maintenance Superintendent Biskey.

 

Superintendent’s Report

Superintendent Biskey reported on the Frontier Parking lot.  M&J Asphalt will do the paving.  This will be a one-day job.  A date has not been set.

 

The maintenance crew repaired a particularly bad section of the walking path at Freedom Park.  Full repairs will be done in the spring.

 

Superintendent Biskey and Director King are still working on getting the pricing and information for upgrades on Fire and Security alarm at Frontier Fieldhouse.

 

Director’s Report

Director King was not at the meeting.  A written report was submitted for the Board’s review.

 

FINANCE COMMITTEE

Chair Report

The Board was given July financial statements for their review as well as TIF information from the Village and information regarding the upcoming bond issue.

 

President Pratl called for a motion to approve payment of bills from July 19th – September 6th in the amount of $87,831.59.  Motion was made by Commissioner Conrad and seconded by Commissioner Crout.

Nays:               None

Abstain:           None

Motion Carried.

 

SPECIAL PROJECTS

Chair Report

Commissioner Conrad reported that he had met with Director King to discuss the priority of projects that need to get done.  For instance, he stated that the pavilion renovation has moved from the top of the list to the end of the list to make room for other more pressing projects. 

 

The Board was given a written update on the meeting Director King attended for the proposed Jon’s Way, Chicago Ridge Youth Group.

 

OLD BUSINESS

There was no old business to discuss.

 

NEW BUSINESS

President Pratl called for a motion to move the September 27th Board Meeting to October 11th due to anticipated lack of quorum.  Motion was made by Commissioner Crout and seconded by Commissioner Egan.

Nays:               None

Abstain:           None

Motion Carried.

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION

There was no need to enter Executive Session.

 

ADJOURN. 

President Pratl called for a motion to adjourn at 8:23pm.  Motion was made by Commissioner Conrad and seconded by Commissioner Crout.  All in favor, aye.  Motion carried.
