Regular Committee/Board Meeting of the

Board of Commissioners

CHICAGO RIDGE PARK DISTRICT

July 12, 2017

 

CALL TO ORDER

President Pratl called the meeting to order at 8:01pm.

 

ROLL CALL

The following commissioners were present:  Commissioners Crout, Conrad, Egan, Albon, Pratl

Also present: Director King, and Maintenance Superintendent Malito.

 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Everyone participated in the Pledge of Allegiance. 

 

PUBLIC/STAFF WISHING TO ADDRESS THE BOARD

President Pratl acknowledged two Chicago Ridge residents in the audience, Mike Rizzo and Paul Emlund, who expressed some concerns regarding the proposed removal and replacement of the Freedom Park pavilion as well as some other concerns regarding park aesthetics. The Board thanked them for their comments which will be taken under advisement.  They then exited the meeting.

 

RECREATION COMMITTEE

Chair Report

Commissioner Albon gave the floor to Recreation Superintendent Malito for his report.

 

Superintendent’s Report

Superintendent Malito reported on Day Camp – 2nd session began Monday, July 10th.

 

There are trips coming up to the Shed Aquarium, Starved Rock and Morton Arboretum.

 

Senior Bingo will be held on the 2nd and 3rd Tuesday of this month instead of the 1st and 2nd due to the 4th of July holiday.

 

Katie Quick from the Fingertips Program will be giving a presentation at Frontier Fieldhouse on Monday, July 17th for day camp counselors and children.

 

Superintendent Malito has begun making plans to set dates for the Polar Express.

 

MAINTENANCE COMMITTEE

Chair Report

Commissioner Egan reported that he spoke with Maintenance Superintendent Biskey who could not be at the meeting.  Superintendent Biskey’s written report was reviewed by the Board.

 

There was recent vandalism at the Lombard building which is being addressed.

Commissioner Egan had some questions regarding the CRAA’s use of the concession building at Menard and their proposed alterations.  Director King informed him that the proposed alterations will be covered by the CRAA as per the lease agreement and will not affect the maintenance garage portion. Discussion ensued.

 

Director’s Report

Director King reported on the actions being taken regarding the vandalism at Lombard.  The Board was give two quotes for security cameras for their review.

 

The Cook County beverage tax is currently on hold.

 

The parking lot has been restriped at Frontier Fieldhouse and Ball Fore, and bushes have been trimmed. 

 

CRAA is still playing on the fields.

 

The Board was given information regarding a Community Youth Meeting.  Director King will be attending the meeting on Wednesday, July 19th at 6:00pm.  Commissioner Pratl stated that he also is planning on attending the meeting.

 

The Board was given a breakdown of the numbers regarding returned gift certificates/coupons.

 

The NRPA conference will be September 26th – 28th. 

 

Maintenance has restriped the parking lot at Frontier and will be resetting the bench at Guardian Park.

 

FINANCE COMMITTEE

Chair Report

The Board was given May financial statements for their review.

 

SPECIAL PROJECTS

Chair Report

Commissioner Conrad opened discussion regarding the removal and replacement of the pavilion at Freedom Park.

 

OLD BUSINESS

There was no old business to discuss.

 

NEW BUSINESS

There was no old business to discuss. 

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION

There was no need to enter Executive Session.

 

 

 

ADJOURN. 

President Pratl called for a motion to adjourn at 8:58pm.  Motion was made by Commissioner Conrad and seconded by Commissioner Crout.  All in favor, aye.  Motion carried.
