Dates have been set for the Santa Express event in December.

Wewannatoo Play Camp has ended and Park and Pad time will begin next week for the same age group.

Recreation Superintendent Malito reported on his communications with LifeFitness regarding options for the fitness center.

Commissioner Crout complimented Recreation Superintendent Malito and the staff doing a great job supervising the Day Camp children when at the Oak Lawn pool.

Recreation Superintendent Malito then exited the meeting.

MAINTENANCE COMMITTEE

Chair Report

Vice President Crout gave the floor to Director King to review the written report submitted by Maintenance Superintendent Biskey.

Director King reported that a few projects have been completed: Basketball court fence removed at Guardian Park, existing chain link fence behind the Administration building was removed and a new fence installed and Johns Pro Tree Service was out to remove 3 trees along the fence line there.

PCS Industries has begun the bathroom flooring work at Frontier.  Director King also reported on the plans for the upgrades to the party room at the Lombard building, which will include removal of the existing stove and refrigerator and putting in a smaller refrigerator with extended counter top.

Sherlock Carpet will be renovating the day room at Freedom when Day Camp is over.

The maintenance crew has been busy cleaning berms and planter boxes as well as weeding around bushes, trimming and adding fresh wood chips.

The banners have been put up at Ball Fore which covers the pitching machines for a fraction of the cost of repair.

Baseball is over and teams are renting out Ball Fore/Lily Pad for their end-of-season party.

There was a problem with an O-ring at the Lily Pad.  This was handled in house.

Director King reported on the use/revenue of Ball Fore and Lily Pad over the 4th of July weekend.  The weather was not conducive to good activity.

Commissioner Albon remarked that the pond at Ball Fore looked dirty. Director King stated that he will have the maintenance staff look into it.

Director’s Report

Director King reported on the upgrades to Ball Fore.  He is still waiting to hear from Amusement Products and the contractor for the carpet installation.  At this point they might want to wait until next year for these upgrades to coincide with the 10th anniversary of Ball Fore.  He will also look into getting better fountains.

Director King reported that Penny Lane and High Hopes have rented the Lily Pad a couple of times and now Penny Lane would like to rent Ball Fore.  This will be additional revenue for the Park District.

New chairs were purchased for the Commissioners to use during their Board meetings.

The 100th anniversary golf balls were received and Director King is working on promotion of this event.  He will have some ideas for the next meeting.

Director King is working with Private Bank on a better way to address/confirm money transfers.

There is some concern regarding the low sign-up for the Park and Pad time.  Recreation Superintendent Mailto is working on the fall/winter brochure, but Director King has asked him to get some mini classes going for July and August.  Plans are being made for an Open House/Play Day for parents and children where they can use the inflatables, the traverse wall and introduce them to the new classes.

Director King reported more on the options for the fitness center. The Club Industry show is scheduled in October and he will look to see what is new at that time.

Staff is getting ready for the audit next week.

Ball Fore received a 98% on the recent health inspection.

The Board was given a permit request for the Lion’s Club meetings. There was some discussion regarding changes to the permit guidelines/form.

Commissioner Conrad suggested a gazebo outside the Lily Pad.  The Board discussed the feasibility of this.
