Attorney:

Attorney Stillman was not at the meeting.  No report was given.

Director:

Director King reported on the progress of the Guardian Park project.  There were some changes made to the design of the pour-in-place surface area.  Seed blanket has been laid and the planter box was installed.

The Park District was approached by a new wrestling company for events at Frontier.  Director King informed the Board that he is in discussions with them.  Parking is still an issue for these types of large events.

Director King is still working with the Chicago Southland on the International Shuffle Board Tournament; however, the time commitment would be an issue as well as the parking needs.

Staff is getting ready for the Memorial Day weekend which kicks off the summer season for Ball Fore and the Lily Pad.  Recreation Superintendent Malito is working on putting together some rental rates for a few local day care facilities that would like to rent the Lily Pad.

The budget is being worked on for the next meeting.

COMMITTEES:

Recreation:

Commissioner Albon asked Superintendent Malito about the progress of the manager interviews.  Superintendent Malito reported that they interviewed several candidates and hired 5 new employees.

Superintendent’s Report:

Superintendent Malito reported on the CPR training.

Jim Butski, the head volleyball coach at Trinity College, will be instructing a Park District Volleyball Camp at Frontier Fieldhouse for one week this June.

Tiny Tot graduation took place May 11th.

Superintendent Malito reported on the number of registrants for Day Camp.  He is anticipating close to 180 participants by the beginning of Camp.  Flyers went out to the schools.

Commissioner Egan was not at the meeting. President Pratl gave the floor to Maintenance Superintendent Biskey for his report.

Superintendent’s Report:

Maintenance Superintendent Biskey reported in more detail regarding the work at Guardian Park.

The new sign for Commissioners Park has been installed.

Staff will begin getting the Lily Pad up and running for the season.  All parks continue to be cut and trimmed; ball fields are kept ready for baseball according to the CRAA schedule.  There have been no issues or complaints from the coaches.

Superintendent Biskey reported that he has contacted a vendor for pricing regarding upgrades to the bathrooms at Frontier, Freedom and the Administration building.

He is also looking to get estimates to repair/replace the gutter at Frontier along the Fitness Center side of the building.

Floors, Inc. was out to look at the rip in the gym floor at Frontier sustained during the R.O.H. event.  Director King commented that it was a minor tear and will be fixed.

Commissioner Pratl instructed Superintendent Biskey to get the quotes for the bathroom upgrades to the Board members for their review as soon as he receives them so the work can be scheduled for an appropriate time.

Commissioner Albon asked about the gutter work at Menard.  Director King stated that the CRAA has had the work done and will forward the invoice to the Park District.  The concession stand is being repainted white.  C&C Asphalt was out to assess the low area that floods.  Other than a major renovation, they suggested changing the door.

Superintendents Malito and Biskey then exited the meeting.
